Do They Still Sell No-Doz?

September 15th, 2012 by terrybenish

Here we are in the middle of September, today’s game is number 146.

For the second night in a row Wedge has let a game get away from him, this time a big lead. Going back to Felix’s start against the Angels where he had a lead going into the eighth inning and Wedge ran him out there and he got shelled, the same thing happened tonight, a bit earlier, but Vargas pitch count was in the same territory as was Felix’s and well shoot he acts surprised that these guys lose command of their stuff after 200+innings when they are at 100 pitches or so.

Not only that, he acts so damn surprised when it happens. Nobody up in the pen and the game just vanishes. With a really young pen, it might be better to let them start an inning rather than get a short warm up and told to go put out the barn-burner. Perhaps he needs no-doz to stay awake, coffee, maybe it’s a blood sugar thing.

What if they were actually important games to win? Then there is the infatuation with Josh Kinney who has been given the setup role. There is no there there.

Smoak with a couple of hits including a home run trying to prove me wrong.

Jackson loses AA Championship. Two, perhaps three very good performances: Mike Zunino hits well, James Paxton with a win and ten ks. Taijuan Walker pitched well but did not get the win. I still am partial to James Paxton amongst the big three, with Walker close by. Hultzen at best is Jarrod Washburn and worse a middle reliever.
