What To Look At For Progress

July 10th, 2012 by terrybenish

Here is the best to look at so far:

Jesus Montero
Mike Carp
Mike Saunders
Kyle Seager
Nick Franklin
Michael Saunders
Casper Wells
Vinnie Catricala
Alex Liddi
Denny Almonte
Brad Miller

Erasmo Ramirez
Tom Wilhelmsen
Charlie Furbush
Danny Hultzen
James Paxton
Taijuan Walker
Andrew Carraway
Stephen Pryor

Look at the 1990 Mariner team and stats in the link:

Full timers age and OPS:
Dave Valle 29 .659
Harold Reynolds 29 .683
Omar Vizquel 23 .593
Edgar Martinez 27 .830
Alvin Davis 29 .816
part timers:
Jay Buhner 25 .835
Tino Martinez 22 .587

Pitchers Age and OPS Against:

Randy Johnson 25 .674
Erik Hanson 25 .619
Brian Holman 25 .706
Bill Swift 28 .660
Michael Jackson 25 .681
Dave Burba 23 .608

Not all of those guys made it to 1995. The older ones fell off and the Mariners made a disastrous trade of Omar Vizquel. Vizquel, Martinez, Griffey and Johnson will make it to the Hall of Fame. Look at the team stats for that year in link below. To suggest that the rebuild now is a failure is to suggest that the 1990 rebuild was a failure. It is not true:

Buhner has stats that rank way up with a bunch of very good players that are not quite in the hall of fame:
