Hyenna Fest
July 6th, 2012 by terrybenishI wrote a straight up post comparing last year’s pitching with this year’s pitching and did the same for hitters several days ago. The net of it is that there has been marginal offensive improvement, while the pitchers (albeit a different cast) have done a full on header into the toilet bowl, Felix excepted along with the closer and setup guy, Wilhelmsen and Furbush.
Comes Shannon Drayer with a piece suggesting that the hitters have had it easier than the pitchers who have been riding the interurban from Seattle to Tacoma and back. http://mynorthwest.com/?nid=373
It is kind of curious. The pitching overall in contrast to last year has been terrible and the offense has been better, not great but not as bad as some of the kids get better and the vets continue to be really bad.
Yet here we have a beat reporter or clubhouse ear, or I’m not sure of the correct descriptor, saying the pitchers are being treated worse than the hitters.
At the end of the day, there are pitchers to be brought up and well, there are not any hitters ready for prime time…yet. If there were no pitchers, maybe they’d bring them up just because they were sickened by what they’d been watching and maybe a miracle would transpire.
Mariners play the A’s tonight.
