Potpourri What Others Are Saying

July 5th, 2012 by terrybenish

For a great recap of the game, Ryan Divish uses biting prose to describe yesterday’s ugliness, along with an effective dredge of Elliot Bay, bringing up yet another stinker by Bill Bavasi that lingers like a dead dogfish in the sun.

One of the great lines from his piece, “Instead, it was the trade that brought a sullen, injury-prone, misunderstood pitcher to Seattle for four forgettable seasons and cost the organization an all-star center fielder, who is frankly better than any player on the Mariners 25-man roster at this very moment.”

More from TNT and its resident genius John McGrath who talks about the bad trade that Divish notes and about how Hector Noesi should be in Cheney Stadium, and closes with a suggestion to move Big Jesus to first base or dh, now.

Here’s a couple of great lines: “Noesi’s next step likely will require 45 minutes, depending on the traffic on Interstate-5.

He should be pitching in Cheney Stadium, a pleasant correctional facility for major league pitchers habitually disinclined to take advantage of 0-2 counts.”

Lastly great prose from Jeff Sullivan on the loss:
