This interview was a campaign stop and it was a complete set up. KDawg makes a states that the KRRC lawsuit hitting that day, the same day as the radio was unexpected….then later Hauge refers to the brief he sent to KDawg regarding the lawsuit, yeah ah…. both the radio station and the interviewer took a credibility hit there. Your audience is not stupid, we listen and all you did with this stunt was make yourselves look bad. Mr. Hauge has become an embarrassment. He may well be the best candidate, unfortunately that message is lost in his bid to continue his vendetta.

  2. KDawg Says:

First, Michelle, Let me thank you for the comments. Now, let me address
    them.

If you go back and listen to the interview again, I stated that I never
got the notes about the lawsuit that Mr. Hauge had sent along. My suprise
to the timing was real and authentic. Our interview with him was scheduled
two weeks in advance, and so the timing, to me anyway, seemed to be a bit
lucky on our part. Our origional interview with Mr. Hauge was scheduled to
be one of our continuing election interviews – which has continued with the
likes of Abby Burlingame, Dan Griffey, etc. And while I find it a little
insulting that you imply that we – or me specifically – was dishonest, I
also understand that you don’t know me from Adam. I assure you, I honestly
have no desire one way or the other to see Mr. Hauge re-elected, and I
thought, upon his explanation of why they are pursuing the lawsuit against
the gun club, that the explanation was valid.

As for your comments and thoughts on Russ Hauge, you aren’t alone in your
thoughts about him and how he has handled the suit. Our goal is to get
word and ideas out and allow people to make an informed decision. I have
no bias either way as to what you think or how you vote, I just prefer to
get ideas out there so you can vote with as much information as possible.

I plan to read your letter on air today in the 8pm hour, and Paul and I
will address it. We will also include our segment about your letter in our
next podcast for the Kitsap Sun. I hope you continue to listen, and would
welcome your comments anytime via email or calling during the live show,
    Sundays from 7-11pm (www.outlawradionetwork.com)

    Thanks again

I listened to much of the interview. I thought it was quite strange how it was handled . It reminded me of a Larry King Interview , the questions were softballs and it sounded like the interviewers were actually in awe of the prosecutor.

I did not think of it as a set up , just an interview that told little , and lost the chance to make this show popular in my opinion . I bet in hindsight the hosts may realize that also.

They blew their chance at a very popular interview , with it being in the middle of controversy . Good hard honest questions could have made the interview quite popular among both sides and those in the middle . . A little homework from the hosts could have prepared them for a chance to make real news in a county where fluff and rhetoric usually win the day. They let the prosecutor off the hook , and in fact never even bothered to try to get to the heart of the matter .

  4. Michele Reamey Says:

Thank you for your response KDawg.
I sincerely apologize for doubting your journalistic integrity. It was based solely on
Mr. Hauge’s comments about sending you a brief and the timing of the interview.
I appreciate you taking the time to clear the matter up. Unfortunately I was traveling
last night and missed your show, but look forward to hearing the pod cast. My thoughts
on this matter are simply that tax dollars are being wasted here on at least two fronts in
three counties and if it isn’t a vendetta, wow it sure looks like one. Not to mention both
the County Inspector involved and Mr Hauge own property and appear to live in the effected
area along with their supposed range expert. None of this is disclosed to the court or the public, it should be. It is important since he is using your tax dollars to pursue this. It is a mess from beginning to end. Again, I am sorry to offend, Michele

    MickSheldon

Thanks for the response. Again, while I don’t agree with your comments, I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I do want to address one thing – I feel like we did address the issue with honest questions. I’m not sure what you would have liked us to ask. When we asked him about the issues with the Gun Club, his answers, at least to me, made perfect sense – the issue is not in a Gun Club, as he put it, it is an issue as to whether or not the Gun Club is meeting it’s legal zoning requirements. I will be honest and say that when Paul and I first started talking about this issue with him, we were prepared to take the interview about the Gun Club a different direction – it totally seemed to us as though the county was trying to trample on our 2nd amendment rights. When he explained, however, about the zoning issues, it kind of started to make sense as a reasonable and completely appropriate response for the county to take. And I can understand the issues many have with this decision. Again, speakin from my opinion.

I will say this – the comments, both here and in my email box – have been strong about this. I am in the process of attempting to book Mr. Hauge to appear again. I will repost on our page if we book him and when. We will make sure phone lines are open so listeners like yourself can call in during the live show and ask questions. Or, if you have questions you would like us to ask, send them to me, and I guarantee, we WILL ask them, as long as they aren’t obscene…ha!

Thanks for listening, and I hope you check out the show this week. We have the Sun’s political correspondant Steven Gardner on with us, and one of the topcs of interest will be the gun club issue. Interview time will be 7pm, on our website, http://www.outlawradionetwork.com, or on this podcast when it is posted the next day.

Thanks, but if it Sunday I will be working . But because you responded I will listen to the tape . Thank you taking the time .
But I think your honesty here in accepting what the prosecutor said as logical and answering your concerns is actually what I criticized the show somewhat for. Lary King interviews the same way , ;0)but he does it with both sides also . Perhaps if you had some folks on with differing opinions on the issue it would make it better ?

I took a comp day off that Sunday and had dinner with some people who were talking about this very issue. They are more involved then I on issues like this , but when I got home there was a comment on Facebook about your show from a friend so I tuned in.

If you get a chance read some of the blogs on the Sun , the comments there are quite interesting in regards to this and what I am speaking to. Because a person makes a comment that sounds logical does not mean it is the only side in the manner. If you do not know enough about the issue it does make you sound as though the Prosecutor has the only side to the story. Actually calling up Mr Carter or better yet Bruce Danielosn would be a great way to get another perspective also.

Interesting also someone bringing up about the headlines on the Sun about a year stating the Commissioners , maybe it was Josh Brown, that the land swap deal the county was involved in would not cause the Rifle Club to be closed down . The Rifle Club has always felt the county, parts of the liberal establishment in the Kitsap County Democratic party did not want them operating . I am not a gun person but I do know many who are. Now the land swap is causing problems ….. I would research this .

Also the prosecutor has a strange way, in my opinion unethical, manner in how he handles prosecutions. One if a person is arrested , he gives them the amount of time and fine that will be levied. If they refuse to take the plea, he then increases the fine and time for trial . Instead of giving the defendant what his office believes the citizens of Kitsap feel to be appropriate punishment , he offers less in order to make a deal . He then actually brags about his successful rate in prosecutions . Giving lighter sentences from the get go . Not to mention if the person is innocent , they are threatened with a harsher penalty if they do not plea . Most prosecutors charge what they believe is appropriate for the crime , then go from there .

Anyway thanks again , your the only show that has potential to gtet into the meat of the issues, its an opportunity that I believe has potential foran increased audience.

Say you had carter and Huage on , I bet you would have the largest audience rating ever .
