Get Your Creative On
May 5th, 2010 by michellewhiteOur life seems to be filled with creativity. There’s the simple act of getting supplies out that inspires us, as a family, to create. Pen, marker, paint, crayon, paper, glue. All good stuff.
Then there’s the creative solutions Mom’s come up with to life’s little problems. Like forgetting tomorrow was your day to be “Snack Mom”, and all that you have in the house is a can of red beans, a handful of Pirate Booty, and an apple.
There’s creatively answering your
children’s questions
(no matter how many they seem to come up with). What does the
Tooth fairy do with all of the teeth? Why do I have to wear
underwear? What is the meaning of life? You know, the
basics.
Being creative on a budget. For many of us, in this economic climate, this is a necessity. We stretch and use all of our resources to be creative and make it work. Re-purpose and recycle are everyday words for most of us, and take lots of vision and creativity to do.
Then there’s creative fashion. Like when you are going in to talk with your child’s teacher and notice your other child smeared something brown all over the bottom of your shirt. Creative placement of a brooch or pin or sweater comes in mighty handy in times like these. Not that I would know anything about that.
I try to encourage my children to express themselves through art, but more importantly, through living a creative life.
