Who is this “Mom on the Spot”, Anyway?
Greetings! My name is Jenny Ingram. I’ve lived here almost 10 years, have been married for 14 years, and have 3 kids… just taking life one day at time. Of course, there is always more to a story than meets the eye. Most of my story is “punctuated” by my children. I credit them for not only my frequent occasional battles with insanity, but for the rebirth of my passion for writing. Look, this is our most recent family picture. Like I said, insanity:
Seriously. This was our Christmas card.
My muse is my role as “mom”, but like a tree — there are branches. I started writing at Jenny on the Spot (my personal blog) 5 years ago as an outlet for creativity and sanity. It started as a “mommy” blog but has shifted to include other parts of who I am as well. It is there I “get my silly on”. In December I joined Type-A Mom as their Just for Moms editor. I absolutely love being connected with other moms… sharing, encouraging, crying out for help… And now this! I get to combine my “mom-side” with my community! So awesome!
So, for my first post here, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to you. If you are choosing to use a portion of your time to read these words, the least I can to is let you know what you are wasting spending time on… I figure the best way to get to know me is through the eyes of my children. They are honest little creatures! I recently asked them a few questions about me. Their answers are in order of my children’s age: Joel (9), Olivia (6) and Lucy (4):
What is Mommy’s favorite food?
J: Oreos. (My son insists I hide hundreds of bags of them in my closet.)
O: Chocolate. (Uh… YEAH!)
L: Salad. (Sure, I eat that… after I finish all my Oreos and chocolate… I am ALL about priorities!)
If I were a cartoon character, who would I be?
J: Jenny Dazzles.
O: A friend of Yogi Bear. (???)
L: Jenny. (I must be half-cartoon to my 4 year-old!)
How do you know I love you?
J: Because I have good personality. (And a STRONG sense of self…)
O: A lot of times you are nice to me. (I’m thankful she chose “a lot” instead of “sometimes”)
L: Cuz you let me do laundry clothes with you. (Yes, she LOVES to help with laundry)
What is my job?
J: To clean.
O: Keeping your kids calm. (Are you laughing? I am totally laughing!)
L: Fixing lights.
What am I really good at?
J: Dancing. *curtsey*
O: Blogging.
L: Pouring milk and getting cereal. *takes a bow*
What am I NOT good at?
J: Video games. (He’s never seen me play Ms. Pacman! Gonna have to take care of that!)
O: Patience. (Her insight makes me shiver…)
L: Carrying that table (points to my desk)
And there you have it — the down and dirty from my kids. I feel like I can begin now.
I am excited to have the opportunity to write here. I look forward to not only sharing my own thoughts, but hearing and sharing yours. I hope to write not only about my experiences in motherhood, but share local stories of motherhood/parenting/family goodness… We’ll go to the park, check out low-tide, discover the fun things happening in our community that we can share with our children… If you have questions, comments or ideas for things to post… I am open to suggestions! Please do not hesitate to contact me – via comment or email me at: momonthespot [at] gmail [dot] com.

A local blogger and mom of three takes on motherhood and life in exciting Kitsap County! Jenny is fully caffeinated and definitely outnumbered... which gives her lots of writing material.

How cool is this? The Sun is really stepping up, enhancing their virtual presence, and embracing social media. So I’m not familiar with the Kitsap Reader blogs. I assume they’re available for free? Or is there some small maintenance fee? Not likely. It will be interesting to see if you get much traction or readership. Since you’re well connected through other platforms, that should help. I actually found you here through your Twitter account. I was doing a search through TWEEFIND using the search term ‘Kitsap.’ Do you have your own blog elsewhere, or is this the first stab, so to speak? You can check out my writing haunts at SoundBiteBlog.com and CrabbingInTheHood.com
