Carl Is Back, And He Is As Ready To Watch UFC 152 As The Rest Of Us

September 22nd, 2012 by Joshua Scott Beranis

There really isn’t anyone better to talk UFC with then one of our local fighters, and there is no better meal in my opinion to talk about it over then hot pizza and cold beer. Leave it to Carl “King-fist” Edwards to highlight an otherwise boring Friday by coming over to my house, shooting the breeze, and watching some UFC on Fuel T.V.

I’m dissappointed that I won’t be seeing him ring someone out on October 13th the way he did to Wes Golden at Dark Horse Entertainment’s Cage Warrior Combat event, but he’s playing it smart and taking a breather after tryouts in Vegas for The Ultimate Fighter.

Tonight is UFC 152, Jon Jones vs. Vito Belforte. I’m all set up tonight for an interview with local Independent, Randy Tibbs, 0-3. 0-3? I know, it sounds weird, but he’s going back into the cage on the 13th of October, for the second installment of Cage Warrior Combat at the Point Casino. So stay tuned for pictures and a q and a about Mr. Tibbs. He doesn’t know it yet, but he’s going to be watching 152 on FX with me. It’ll be a casual interview.

As far as Carl coming back from Vegas, he is still in good spirits.

“I got taken down, but I wasn’t embarrassed by him,” he says. The opponent responsible for Carl’s cut from the show was a Jiu-Jitsu Black belt, and what Carl described as a guy who just ended up getting the upper hand.

“I won’t say I was overwhelmed by seeing all of the best fighters in the country up there. I’ll just say I felt like that was where I belonged.” He wasn’t saying it out of pompousness, but out of his will to be the best Carl Edwards he can be.  He was perfectly content to hold my daughter as she passed out while watching the Weigh-Ins for tonight’s card and eating pizza with my wife and I.

So stay tuned while I live respond to the UFC event on FX. Contact me here on Rougheart to give me your thoughts on each bout. Lets blow it up tonight.
