R.J. Hoyt of Rough House MMA, Bremerton… On The Record.

September 5th, 2012 by Joshua Scott Beranis

R.J. Hoyt, Weigh-Ins at Cage Warrior Combat, August 30th 2012

Rougheart: You didn’t win your bout against Danny Elliot, but many feel that you put up a good fight. What are your thoughts?

R.J: “I’m gonna say that many people felt that I won.”

Rougheart: Yeah?

R.J: “Everybody that I talked to said that they felt that I won, very strongly.”

Rougheart: As far as Danny Elliot is concerned, what are your thoughts on how he fought?

RJ: “I thought he f0ught very well. Every time he got hit, he smiled. Every time I got hit, I smiled back at him. He never let his guard down… I have a lot of respect for him as a fighter bolth inside and outside the cage, before and after.”

Rougheart: So you spoke with him after the fight?

RJ: “Yeah, briefly. He was very happy to have fought against me. He told me he started out his MMA career watching me fight.”

Rougheart: What were his thoughts as far as the fight went?

RJ: “I didn’t ask him that. I didn’t want to rain on his parade. You know? I wanted him to enjoy himself.”

Rougheart: “Did Victor Solier have anything to say about the fight?”

RJ: “He said he was really proud of me. That I did really good. He said my only downfall was I had some sloppy kicks. I also should have taken him down and pounded him out, because thats what I’m good at.”

Rougheart: I hope to see you make it to 6-1. You are one of Kitsap’s most prized and admired fighters, and youre only in your ammies as of yet. Kitsap should give you props for representing them as boldly as you did last Thursday.

RJ: ”I was told that I won fight of the night by the promoters.” (Tad Bremer and Mingo Reyna of Cage Warrior Combat).

Rougheart: I wouldn’t argue really. It was a real edge of the seat bout. And again congrats. Am I going to see you again some time soon?

RJ: “Yeah. Well, I go into surgery tommorow.” (R.J’s fight led to a broken right hand in the first round. R.J. was determined to remain steadfast into the end of the third round.)

Rougheart: Wishing you well RJ. I hope your surgery goes well and that you keep us updated at Rougheart MMA Journal. Good luck, and nurse that hand.
