Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will soon
join Big 5 in Poulsbo’s College Marketplace.
Local franchise owner Thomas Driver hopes to have the new restaurant and drive-through up and smoking this spring in space adjacent to the sporting goods store.
He expects Poulsbo to be a strong market for Dickey’s.
“Especially in that area,” he said. “We have the college right behind us, Home Depot, Petco, the Walmart Supercenter…”
Thomas opened the first Kitsap Dickey’s location in Port Orchard last year. The design of the 3,000-square-foot Poulsbo restaurant will be similar, he said, though the drive-through will add a new twist.
Thomas plans to open several more Dickey’s restaurants in West Sound communities, including Bremerton, Gig Harbor and Silverdale. Exact locations haven’t been picked, he said.
Dickey’s offers a no-frills, “fast-casual, family-friendly” style dining experience, with traditional barbecue fare. The chain launched in Dallas in 1941 and now boasts more than 400 locations in 40 states.
