More Than 80 People Attend League Forum

Monday night’s forum was a well-attended event, with more than 80 people turning out on a warm summer evening to see candidates for state Legislature at the Norm Dicks Government Center in downtown Bremerton.
Candidates who spoke were State Rep. Christine Rolfes, D-Poulsbo, and her two Republican opponents, James Olsen and Aaron Winters; State Rep. Fred Finn, D-Thurston County, and his Republican challenger, Linda Simpson; and State Sen. Derek Kilmer, D-Gig Harbor. Marty McClendon, a Republican who is running in the primary for Kilmer’s seat, indicated earlier that he would speak at the event but cancelled on Monday.
League President Catherine Ahl read a statement supplied by
McClendon stating his positions. Former Port Orchard Mayor and
state League vice president Kim Abel served as moderator. Voter
education chair Ann Smith organized the forum.
