Meet the Candidates at July 26 Forum

Local candidates for state Legislature are expected to appear at a July 26 forum at the Norm Dicks Government Center in downtown Bremerton from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m.
The following candidates have said they will participate in the forum sponsored by The League of Women Voters of Kitsap:
In the 23rd District race, incumbent Rep. Christine Rolfes, D-Poulsbo, and her Republican challengers, James Olsen and Aaron Winter.
In the 26tth District contest, incumbent Sen. Derek Kilmer, D-Gig Harbor, and Republican challenger Marty McClendon.
In the 35th District race, incumbent Rep. Fred Finn, D-Olympia, and Republican challenger, Linda Simpson.

    Thanks for your question. Here is the reply from Ann Smith, who is organizing our candidate forums:
    Normally the State or Seattle Leagues handle Senate forums because they can reach a wider audience than we can. It’s much more difficult to get a candidate for the Senate to come to a small forum such as what we would organize. They too want wider exposure. Also, because of financial constraints, we tend to focus our attention on local and state candidates. Of course, if we were going to organize a Senate forum, everyone including Clint Didier would be invited and I’m sure that if either the state or Seattle League plans to organize such a forum, all announced candidates would be asked to participate. League protocol requires it.
