Next Candidate Forum is Tuesday

Ever wonder what Port of Bremerton commissioners do? Find out at a forum on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Hosted by the League of Women Voters of Kitsap, the forum will feature candidates Lynn Horton and Roger Zabinsky, both running for the District 1 commissioner seat being vacated by Cheryl Kincer. The forum will be at the Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 6th St., from 7 to 8 p.m.
Horton, 58, has plenty of name recognition. She served as mayor of Bremerton from 1994 to 2001 and on the Bremerton City Council before that, from 1988 to 1993. She is currently a project manager for Pierce Transit. She has lived in the area for 34 years.
Zabinsky, 41, is a relative newcomer with a background in science and technology. He has lived in the area for five years and is a research scientist and project manager for a local biotech firm. The son-in-law of former Kitsap County commissioner Phil Best, Zabinsky lives in Chico and has become involved in community activities including serving on the Central Kitsap Community Council, working with Leadership Kitsap and helping to plan the Greater Peninsula Futures Festival.
