I recently got an email from a website called donorschoose.org. It’s a resource for teachers who need donations for classroom supplies or special projects. Teachers post a note about their class, the materials and why they are needed. Accompanying that is a budget showing how much the materials will cost, shipping etc. Then anyone from anywhere can log on, read through the projects and, if they are inspired, give a donation.
Donorschoose.org contacted the Sun because three local teachers have been successful in raising funds for their materials or projects. Eight more local teachers currently have requests on the site. I will be featuring some of these folks in a story later this week.
