Shelly Clayton has been named employee of the quarter at Ashley Gardens of Bremerton, a memory care community. She has been a caregiver at the community for more than a year and was recognized for character and decision making skills. Executive Director Carrie Mulcahy said Clayton has shown strength of character, good decision making skills, motivation, dedication and compassion toward residents, families and staff.
Heather Hodges has been promoted to branch manager at the Belfair office of American Marine Bank. She has been with American Marine since the in-store location opened in Belfair in early 2005. She began as a sales associate working on new accounts and teller transactions, then was promoted to lead sales associate. She replaces Gary Podesta, who has moved on to work in AMB’s central operations department as community banking operations manager.

Autonomix Inc., an information technology services firm, has relocated its company headquarters from Bainbridge Island to the Colman Building at First Avenue and Marion Street in downtown Seattle. The company will retain its network operations center in Poulsbo.

Westsound Bank
to Reopen
in Silverdale
SILVERDALE
Bremerton-based Westsound Bank has relocated its Silverdale branch and plans an open house Jan. 21 beginning with a ribbon-cutting at 5:30 p.m. and a public reception with refreshments and appetizers until 7:30 p.m. The new branch is located at 3035 Bucklin Hill Road and opened for business Nov. 3, 2008.
The new office offers better accessibility, a drive-up window, safe deposit boxes and improved parking.

Randi Strong Soderstrom has opened a real estate office called The Real Estate Lady in Silverdale after more than 22 years with John L. Scott Real Estate.
“I believe that consumers want and need more accurate information, direct communication, compassion, experience and absolute competence, not fancy sales pitches that don’t produce results,” she said.
Soderstrom said 99 percent of her clients have worked with her before or are referred by her past clients. She says while the firm is small, it is focused, solely owned and operated and has the flexibility to do whatever necessary to take care of her clients.

Goller Grade & Gravel, 1639 NW Rude Road in Poulsbo, the first general contractor in Kitsap County to obtain EnviroStars certification, has been awarded four stars again. It the highest certification available for a company of its size. As an installer of landscaping hardscapes and water features, the firm integrates environmentally friendly practices and products into their projects using only biodegradable, low-toxicity products. Even the marking paint used for landscaping is biodegradable.
Most wastes generated on work sites are recycled, including asphalt, yard waste, tree limbs and branches, scrap metals and demolition debris; very little waste is sent to a landfill. The firm uses best management practices for the small amount of hazardous wastes generated, typically from vehicle maintenance. These include spill prevention, containment and labeling.
In addition, the company is one of just a few Certified Aquascape Contractors in Washington. The EnviroStars Program certifies businesses for taking steps to prevent pollution and reduce hazardous waste.

Olympic College will offer a program in manufacturing technology beginning winter quarter. The two quarter, entry-level program is designed to provide students with the basics they need to be successful in this varied industry.
First quarter classes are for 12 credits and includes orientation to manufacturing, foundations for manufacturing I and manufacturing methodologies. Second quarter classes are for 15 credits and include classes in measurement, tools and safety; planning, drawing and technology; CO-OP 111, cooperative education seminar I; and CO-OP 121-124, cooperative work experience.
