CK’s new girls basketball coach a dribbling phenom

I’ll have a story on Central Kitsap’s new girls basketball coach Nikki Nelson in Thursday’s Kitsap Sun.

But until then, here’s a little something to wet your whistle on CK’s latest hire. Nelson, a Chewelah native (that’s about an hour north of Spokane if you didn’t know) was a ball-handling wunderkind and can probably still get it done today. Check out this video of Nelson performing at halftime at a Seattle SuperSoncis game (remember them?) on April 4, 2014.

Also, you can check out another video of Nelson as a University of New Mexico Lobo performing her ball-handling skills in college. According to the Lobos website, Nelson began practicing her dribbling routines in third grade and started performing in middle school. She was asked to appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and faced Shaquille O’Neal in a one-on-one dual.
