Breaking down the baseball postseason

May 12th, 2014 by nathan joyce

The baseball playoffs hit high gear on Tuesday. Here’s what’s what:

Baseball playoffs at a glance
Class 4A
West Central/Southwest bi-district
Tuesday: No. 7 South Kitsap (17-4) vs. Tahoma (15-4) at Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma, 4 p.m.; Central Kitsap (9-12) vs. Federal Way (10-7), at Heritage Park in Puyallup, 7 p.m.
Notes: South Kitsap, the Narrows League champs, plays in a winner-to-regionals game. A win Tuesday put them in the district semifinals. A loss and they have to fight through the consolation bracket and win two to return to regionals. … Central Kitsap, which won five straight and battled back from being in last place all season, plays in a loser-out game and must come through the consolation bracket.
Class 3A
Metro League Tournament
Tuesday: No. 8 Bainbridge (16-2) vs. West Seattle (13-7) at Steve Cox Memorial Park in Seattle, 4 p.m.
Notes: Bainbridge is playing in the semifinals and another win puts them back in regionals for a second consecutive year. A win also puts them in Thursday’s league title game at 7 p.m. A loss means the Spartans return Wednesday for a 7 p.m. loser-out game.
Class 2A
