Central Kitsap girls basketball coach Denise Baxter resigned after 20 years at the helm of the Cougars.
Baxter submitted her resignation Monday. In her letter, she said:
“I’m leaving knowing that the program has been committed to molding strong student-athletes and has been consistently competitive over the years. My hope is that the next coach will continue the strong relationships that we have established in our program with players, managers, parents, teachers and league coaches.”
Baxter led the Cougars (15-8 overall, 8-5 Narrows League) to the West Central District tournament again this year, the team’s third trip in a row. Baxter also took CK to state three times — 2002-03, 2004-05, 2006-07.
