Hardwood Classic: State basketball tourney links

March 5th, 2014 by jeff graham

State basketball tournaments begin Thursday, and even though no Kitsap County teams made the cut, we know there are some local hoops fans out there still interested in Hardwood Classic info. So here is what’s out there.

Here are the brackets for the boys and girls tournaments, which run Thursday through Saturday. The 4A/3A games are at the Tacoma Dome, the 2A/1A games are at the Yakima SunDome, and the 2B/1B games are at Spokane Arena.

Courtesy of the News Tribune and prep guru Todd Milles (the man who never sleeps because he puts out so much copy), here are capsules for the 4A boys, 4A girls, 3A boys and 3A girls tourneys. Earlier this week, Milles talked to Rainier Beach coach Mike Bethea about the nationally-ranked Vikings’ quest for a three-peat.

The Seattle Times picks its 4A tournament Dream Team for boys and girls. Read the rest of their hoops coverage here.

The Yakima Herald-Republic covers the 2A/1A tourneys like no one else. Port Angeles’ girls, who won the Olympic League, face Lynden on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The Roughriders (19-5) beat Burlington-Edison on Saturday to punch their ticket to state.

The Spokesman-Review provides the top B-tournament coverage.
