Playoff picture: Olympic League basketball

January 29th, 2014 by jeff graham

With under two weeks left in the regular season, here’s how the playoff picture looks like for Olympic League boys and girls basketball.

On the boys’ side, Bremerton is undefeated in league play at 12-0, followed by Sequim (10-2), Port Angeles (9-4) and Olympic (8-4). The top four teams advance to the Class 2A West Central District tournament, meaning fifth-place North Kitsap (6-6) and Kingston (6-7) are on the outside, looking in.

On the girls’ side, Port Angeles (12-1) leads Kingston (10-3) by two games in the loss column, while Olympic (8-4) and Sequim (8-4) are tied for third. Fifth-place North Kitsap (7-5) is one game back.

District play begins Feb. 17. The Olympic League’s third- and fourth-place teams face loser-out games in the first round, while the top two teams from the league get a first-round bye and aren’t eliminated with a loss.
