New WIAA numbers in: Klahowya drops to 1A

December 13th, 2013 by nathan joyce

The latest WIAA enrollment numbers are out, and they made an impact on the West Sound sporting scene.
The biggest news: Klahowya, for the first time, dropped to the 1A classification. The Eagles have been a 2A team since they opened their doors in 1997. Klahowya dropping down opens the door for a possible 1A division of the Olympic with Chimacum and Port Townsend. Coupeville, Forks and Vashon have been mentioned as other possibilities.
Among the other news: Port Angeles and Bainbridge, which were on the bubble, are 2A schools (the Spartans are talking about opting-up to 3A). Bremerton successfully lobbied the WIAA to remain a 2A school. The first round of numbers had a higher enrollment total for the Knights, which AD Jeff Barton said were incorrect.
Here’s the latest numbers.

Please keep us informed on what league Klahowya, Chimacum and PT will be aligned with. (I am hoping against Forks. That is a LONG drive.)

What about Quilcene? Are they a B school?
