Lanny keeping up with those who’ve left BremertonNovember 13th, 2013 by nathan joyce
Lanny Dowell, an ex-coach and track and field official, likes to keep me up to date on former Bremerton sports people and what they’re doing now.
Thought I’d share it with you:
Mark Kerr, a former Bremerton High teacher coach now plying his trade at Bellingham’s Sehome High writes…
the Sehome kids brought both team titles (state CC) back again this year and it is the 4th time that we have done that (for a total of 13 team titles in my 15 years here)…I did step back from the daily coaching duties this year with my mom recovering from heart surgery, but I was there for all the key meets-including state this past Saturday…the boys were a heavy underdog after not beating cross-town rival Squalicum the last two weeks and losing to Lakewood as well at the district meet (6 points separated all 3 teams)…but the boys put it together and crushed everyone…Squalicum was 26 points behind us and Lakewood had a very tough day finishing 9th. The girls were untouchable (scoring only 33 points) and with no seniors in the top 7…things should keep rolling for years to come!
Sean Perkins…Head Football Coach at Bremerton now serving in the same capacity at Longview’s Mark Morris High, again, has his eleven back in the state playoffs.
Mike Ellis…standout three year OL starter for Olympic High Football is now coaching at Richland, where his son, Jake is walking in Dad’s shies. The Bombers are in the state playoffs.
Mindy Milden McDonell…former Olympic High student trainer…is teaching at Tulane University where her husband John is the OL coach for the bowl eligible Green Wave.
