Volleyball lookahead: Tuesday’s matches

October 15th, 2013 by Annette Griffus

There are some potential key matches Tuesday with our local teams.

The first one that caught my eye is the rematch of Central Kitsap (4-4) vs. South Kitsap (3-4). The 4A Narrows League tilt will almost certainly have an impact on the playoffs as one of those teams will likely be left out of the postseason.

With No.1 ranked Bellarmine Prep (7-0) clearly in control in the standings, followed by Olympia (6-1) and Gig Harbor (5-3). With just four playoff spots available, that leaves CK and South fighting it out. CK won the first meeting, 3-2, on Sept. 19.

Holy Names at Bainbridge: Forget the records in this one. Holy Names (3-4)  matched up very well with Bainbridge (5-2) earlier this season. Just check out the game scores from Sept. 26: 26-24, 25-23, 19-25, 26-24. That match could have gone either way and just as easily been five games.

Port Angeles at Kingston: The Roughriders (3-0) might be undefeated in Olympic League play, but the Kingston coach Ed Call has the Buccaneers (3-1) playing well right now and a hot team is one that can’t be overlooked. This could be the best match of the night in the OL.
