NK’s 200 medley relay breaks 28-year-old school record

September 26th, 2013 by Annette Griffus

North Kitsap’s 200-yard medley relay broke a 28-year-old school record Thursday in a girls Olympic League swimming meet against Klahowya. North won the meet, 94-76.

The relay team of Hannah Uffens, Ellie Gallagher, Serita Solis and Diana Lemon clocked a time of 2 minutes, 2.98 seconds. The old record by Michelle Arnold, Jennifer Smith, Marianne McDowell and Debbie Berry was 2:03.38 set in 1985.

Also, I’m hoping to get confirmation on more state qualifiers from Kitsap, but I do know that Klahowya’s Kelsey Crane qualified in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.86) and the 100 butterfly (1:01.17).

NK had 10 district qualifying times as well.

Congratulations, Ladies! That record has been on the wall a long time and you have been keen to take it down. You have worked hard to put your names on the wall.

If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts or contact info for the original four record-holders, Michelle Arnold, Jennifer Smith, Marianne McDowell or Debbie Berry, please contact NKHS Coach, Greg Braun Braun, at gbraun@nkschools.org.
