What should Port Townsend’s new mascot be?

June 25th, 2013 by jeff graham

That now is the question after the Port Townsend School Board decided Monday to retire the high school’s previous “Redskins” mascot. Here is the Associated Press story.

Students and community members will pick a new mascot.

A few questions to ponder? Will the school’s colors — red and white — change at all? Will the mascot change require all the sports teams to get new uniforms, helmets, etc? How much is that going to cost?

*shrug* maybe it shoulda just been left as it was.. but wait.. that would give the ‘picked on’ folks more to complain about…

It can’t be a mascot that’s already in the league or in the area. Also they should try to be at least original and/or alliterative.
How about Royals? Monarchs? Red Storm? Red Lions? (there is no Red Lion Inn up there). Any others?

stand strong Port Townsend, stick with “Redskins”

If it is good enough for the Washington Redskins!, just saying!

If Redskins have to go, then I nominate Redhawks or Red Hawks.

That is the mascot that Seattle U. changed to in 2000, when Chieftains proved to be too insensitive a mascot name.

    Whiteskins…. shouldn’t offend anyone.
