Saturday district basketball updates
February 16th, 2013 by nathan joyceSouth Kitsap earned a spot at regionals with a 58-52 win over Mount Rainier in the 4A boys districts. SK will play Stadium in the 5th/8th-place game on Monday at Mount Tahoma High School at 4 p.m.
Olympic beats Kingston 56-54 in 2A boys district. Quentin
Phillips’ late free throws the difference. Trojans in final 16 for
the first time since 1993. Kingston, which made it to state last
two year, was eliminated.
Sequim beat Sumner 55-48 in the district semifinals. The Wolves
will play Clover Park on Monday in the district title game.
Washington prevails in overtime against North Kitsap 66-61 in
the 2A girls districts. Rebekah Baugh hit a 3-pointer with about
five seconds left to tie the game at 51-51 and send into regionals.
Washington heads to regionals, North Kitsap’s season comes to an
end.
Port Angeles also lost in the 2A girls district, falling to White
River 50-34. PA had already clinched a regional spot and will play
in the 3rd/4th-place game on Monday.
Also, Renton eliminated Bremerton 54-35 in the 2A girls districts.
Olympic lost to Sumner 59-38 in the semifinals. The Trojans will
play Port Angeles on Monday in the 3rd/4th-place game at Foss at 4
p.m.
In the 2B girls Bi-District, Crosspoint beats Bear Creek 31-17 to grab spot into the regional tournament.
