There’s never a ton of news to report locally when national signing day rolls around each February.
This year, we’ve confirmed that South Kitsap football player Bryce Broome will sign Wednesday with Minot (N.D.) State. So far, he’s the only football kid we know who’s going to turn in a letter of intent this week, although there are a handful of players who are still looking for collegiate homes.
South Kitsap coach Eric Canton said lineman Austin Kanouse will try to walk on at WSU, while North Kitsap kicker Kyler Gracey might do the same. Gracey is also looking at Central Washington.
There are plenty of girls soccer players who’ll sign Wednesday. At South Kitsap, Becca Schoales is headed to Washington, while Miranda Caballero is going to Middle Tennessee State. At Central Kitsap, Paige Serwold (UW) and Jessica Sanchez (Idaho State) are signing Wednesday.
Olympic’s Micaylla O’Leary will sign to go to St. Martin’s. Klahowya’s Jessica Haga (Central Washington), Ashley Mjor (Whitworth) and Brittany Robinson (Whitworth) are headed to the next level, too.
Players headed to community college are Kingston’s Jen Reitan (Bellevue CC), South Kitsap’s Rose Posadas (Olympic College), Christa Lane (Olympic College) and Port Townsend’s Irina Lyons (Edmonds CC).
It also looks like Central Kitsap boys soccer player Jordan Kollars, who helped lead the Cougars to the state finals last season, will sign Wednesday after committing to DII Seattle Pacific University.
The only volleyball signing we know of is for Sequim’s Halleigh Harrison. She’s headed to Western Washington.
