Velarde, Reece atop wrestling rankings
January 5th, 2013 by jeff grahamNorth Kitsap senior Jake Velarde and Kingston junior Bobby Reece III are the top wrestlers in their weight classes according to the Washington Wrestling Report’s latest all-classification rankings.
Velarde, a three-time state champion who has been wrestling all season at 145 pounds, is listed as the top-ranked grappler at 152 (expect him to be listed at 145 the next time the rankings are released). Reece, a two-time state champ, is ranked No. 1 at 160 pounds.
Other local wrestlers appearing on the rankings are Klahowya senior Adam Burchett (2nd, 120 pounds), Klahowya junior Brian Burchett (9th, 132 pounds), South Kitsap senior Bryce Broome (6th, 170), Olympic senior Zeke Gaeta (13th, 170), Port Angeles senior Brian Cristion (15th, 170), Olympic sophomore Gabe Gaeta (15th, 182) and South Kitsap senior Damien Medeiros (6th, 285).

South Kitsap Junior Amberlee Brasch #5-137lbs
South Kitsap Senior Caleenda Johnson #5-130lbs (Prev. Spanaway Lake)
Kingston’s Ivy Rodolf-118lbs won the Hammerhead Tourney and should be ranked when the new updates come out.
Kingston is currently ranked #6 in the All-Classification Girls Team Rankings.
