One big night for Port Townsend’s Halinan
December 13th, 2012 by nathan joycePort Townsend’s Codi Halinan had a triple double on Wednesday
night, which is special enough in a high school game.
She had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
For the third double, she had 18 blocks.
Yeah, 18.
Port Townsend coach Randy Maag watched the game film and called us
a few minutes a go to verify the blocks.
I’m wondering if it’s a state record.
I looked up the national record, which is 25, set in 2008 by
Houston Nimitz’s Brittney Griner, who is a star at Baylor. Griner
also has the record for blocks in a season with 318.
The record book shows the top 15 block performances, which goes down to
19 in a game. None are from Washington.

Congratulations to Codi Halinan. She had an outstanding game on both ends of the court!!
But, Coach Maag, when reviewing the video of the first half, note that Codi fouled the shooter at least twice when blocking those shots. However, the referees ignored the fouls.
Give some credit to the referees for a couple of those 18 blocked shots.

It;s only a foul if the ref calls it.
