State swimming psych sheets available

November 6th, 2012 by Annette Griffus

I have to say, this is the favorite time of year for me. I really enjoy covering swimming and the state girls championships are Friday and Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center. It’s long days in Federal Way, but it’s also some of the most exciting state championships you’ll see.

Here’s a link for the Class 2A, 3A and 4A psych sheets (the top 24 seeds in each of the 12 events). And here’s a schedule for the meet.

Breaking it down a bit, Bainbridge has a couple swimmers among the top seeds in the 3A meet. Sarah Grundman, the defending 500-yard freestyle champion, is seeded first in the same event. Grundman’s time is 5:01.92. Addie Chambers of Lakeside (Seattle) is seeded second in 5:05.21.

Shayla Archer is seeded second in the 100 backstroke behind Mackenna Briggs of Liberty (Renton) in 57.57 to Briggs’ 56.78 and  third in the 200 individual medley. Diver Shannon Engelbrecht is seeded second. All three Spartan relays are among the top three.

In 2A, Kelsey Crane of Klahowya is seeded third in both the 200 IM and 500 free. She is the defending champion in the 500.

Port Angeles’ 200 medley relay is seeded No. 1 and Tracie Macias is the second seed in 100 backstroke behind Tumwater’s Abby Sullivan. Sullivan has a time of 59.33 and Macias has a time of 1:01.26.
