Olympic High’s football team won’t play a Week 10 game. The Trojans had lined up an opponent — Lakeside of Seattle — but because of Bremerton’s desire to host its playoff game at Silverdale Stadium, the Trojans decided to help their Olympic League rivals out.
“… Bremerton did not have a turf field in the evening on Friday or Saturday, (so)( we decided not to play and to help them out. We could have played in the early slot but that was problematic for various reasons. … Essentially, we helped our brothers out in B-town,” wrote Olympic athletic director Nate Andrews in an email.
The stadium is booked Saturday — district soccer games at noon and 2 p.m. and Central Kitsap’s playoff football game against Roosevelt (Seattle) is at 7 p.m. that night.

Klahowya, Port Angeles and Sequim — the other Olympic League schools that didn’t advance to the playoffs — have not announced if they’re playing Week 10 football games.
