With our first girls soccer playoff game coming up on Thursday, now seems like an appropriate time to look at the playoff picture….
In 4A, South Kitsap clinched one of the Narrows League’s four playoff berths Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Bellarmine Prep. The Wolves (8-2-3) can finish as high as second, but might need a win or at least a tie against first-place Gig Harbor to do it. Bellarmine Prep and Olympia are the other two teams fighting for position. South Kitsap holds a tiebreaker advantage over Bellarmine Prep, having beaten and tied the Lions. The district tournament is Nov. 3.
In 3A, Bainbridge finished the regular season first in the Metro League Mountain Division and received a bye into the semifinal round of the league tournament. The Spartans (13-1-1) play home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. If they win, they’ll play for 1st/2nd seed into state on Nov. 3.
In 2A, the Olympic League tournament starts Thursday with No. 5 Sequim playing at No. 4 Kingston. Whoever loses will compete in a district play-in game next Wednesday against the No. 5 seed from the SPSL. The winner faces No. 1 Klahowya on Saturday, while No. 3 Olympic takes on No. 2 North Kitsap. The winners of those games play for the 1st/2nd seed into district on Tuesday, while the losers play for 3rd/4th.
In 2B, Crosspoint’s girls still have a couple of regular season games before playing in a Bi-District tournament game Nov. 10 against LaConner. The Warriors (9-3-2) need to win both of their games at district to gain entry into the state tournament, which is a four-team event this year. … Crosspoint’s boys (8-6-1) play Grace Academy on Saturday in district play.
