Port Townsend volleyball wins first match in two years

September 21st, 2012 by Annette Griffus

The Port Townsend Redskins volleyball team ended a streak that no team wants to have. Port Townsend beat Crescent 3-0 in a non-league match Thursday to win its first match in more two years. The Redskins last win came on Oct. 14, 2009, against Kingston 3-0.

“My girls played with so much heart and wanted to win so badly that they never gave up on themselves or each other,” said PT coach Nettie Hawkins in an email. PT won 25-11, 28-26, 25-10.

Hawkins said the win was needed as the Redskins head into Olympic League play on Tuesday. PT hosts Bremerton at 6:15 p.m.
