January 27th, 2012 by Annette Griffus

The list of Kitsap-area swimmers who have reached Ironman status is growing.

Bainbridge senior Andrew McCarthy and younger brother Todd McCarthy have qualified in all eight individual events for the state swimming and diving championships next month at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

Andrew McCarthy is the current two-time defending champion in the 500-yard freestyle.

Other Kitsap Ironman swimmers include Bremerton’s Nathan Adrian (2006), Olympic’s John Wojtech (2010), North Kitsap’s Bethany Aban (2011) and Klahowya’s Kelsey Crane (2011).
