Time to Scout the Football Playoff Opponents

November 3rd, 2010 by nathan joyce

The football playoffs begin on Friday. Thought we’d help you scout the opponents…

Let’s start with Central Kitsap, which plays at No. 1 Skyline on Saturday. As the preeminent football program in the state, it’s not hard to find info on the Spartans. Here’s a story talking about how Skyline is happy to play on Saturday and get an extra day of rest. No. 1 Skyline advanced by this game by beating No. 4 Bothell in the KingCo 4A title game. Skyline’s top player is All-American wide receiver and future Husky Kasen Williams. Skyline also has its own website.

Bainbridge is at No. 1 Bellevue on Friday. Bellevue is after its eighth state title in 10 years. It’s another football program with its own website. Bellevue advanced to this game by beating No. 7 Liberty to clinch the KingCo 3A title. Bellevue put itself firmly on the football map in 2004 by beating De La Salle of Concord, Calif., and its national-record 151-game winning streak. Quarterback/safety Kendrick Van Ackeren is the man for the Wolverines.

Kingston is playing the Lindbergh Eagles at Renton Stadium on Friday. Lindbergh is the top 2A school in the Class 3A/2A Seamount League. It advanced to this by pounding Foster last week.

Port Angeles and Sequim are playing South Puget Sound League 2A schools. PA will play Sumner, which ended in a three-way tie for the SPSL lead. Sequim plays Washington, which won in the final week to squeak into the playoffs.

Chimacum is at Nooksack Valley, which has overcome injuries to make the playoffs.

Also, here are the play-in week brackets. Here are the state brackets.
