Kingston Football: Bucs Look to Progress

August 26th, 2009 by nathan joyce

Two years ago, Kingston had a winless first season.
Last year, the Bucs won their first game.
This year? They’re hoping to keep progressing.
The upside of having a young team that takes a beating, is that those players grow into experienced upperclassmen. Kingston has 6-7 guys who have are entering their third year of varsity play.
One of them, Tucker Bowman, moves over from wide receiver to play quarterback. Another, Lou Hecker, will be counted on to provide speed out of the backfield, and two others, Roy “Big Red” Swearingen and Freddy Rodolf will anchor the offensive line and the defense.
Kingston also has last year’s leading rusher, Travis Schriner, returning.
“In 10 years of coaching … I’ve never been more curious about how a team is going to play than this team,” Kingston coach Dan Novick said.
