Did You See Moskowitz’s 1600 Time? Wow!
I was in Oregon for a few days and just went through some of the back issues of the paper. One thing jumped out at me while scanning the results of the Kitsap Classic at South Kitsap on Saturday: Central Kitsap’s Shane Moskowitz won the 1,600-meter event in 4:16.55. The unofficial all-time area best, according to former Sun staffer Terry Mosher, is the 4:12.8 clocked by Bainbridge’s Kell Giffin in 1995. Giffin went on to run at Louisville.
Moskowitz’s time, this early in the season, further illustrates that Shane might be the best distance runner to ever come out this area. And he’s only a junior. He ran 4:18.03 and 9:23.08 (3200) as a sophomore. He ran a 4: 17.66 mile at the Husky Classic this winter. He was second at the 4A state cross country championships last fall and earned all-american honors by placing 14th at the national cross country championships in San Diego in December
