Bluesman Charlie Musselwhite, stranded in Europe by the continuing misbehavior of Iceland’s Hekla Volcano, won’t get to Bremerton for his scheduled April 23 concert at the Admiral Theatre.
The theater announced Monday morning that Musselwhite would be a no-show, and would be replaced by California blues guitarist Coco Montoya and his band. Show time and ticket prices remain the same.
Montoya is a 10-year veteran of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers prior to his solo career. The left-hander — who plays a guitar strung for a right-handed player — learned his blues style from Albert Collins while he was playing drums in Collins’ band in the mid-1970s.
He released his seventh solo CD, “I Want It All Back,” earlier this year.
