Last Minute Olympia Gamesmanship

April 26th, 2009 by Steven Gardner

If I were really wanting to worry people just so they’d click on the link and send a page hit my way, I would have titled this entry “Olympia Hostage Crisis.” I wouldn’t be making it up, either, because that’s what they’re calling what’s happening on the last scheduled day of the session.

From what I hear, this is status quo for this point in the session.

Other papers will cover this more thoroughly, especially if it ends up creating real drama. The Pierce County contingent is unhappy with elements in the renewable energy bill dealing with hydro power, so they’re holding up votes on the greenhouse gas bill. In response the Senate is holding off on voting on the capital budget.

It’s 5:39 p.m. and neither chamber is banging any gavels.
