SKIA Summit Not the Height of Civility
July 10th, 2008 by Chris HenrySouth Kitsap Reporter Chris Henry here, filling in for the vacationing Steve Gardner, who picked a heck of a week to be gone. He missed today’s by-invitation discussion of SKIA infrastructure hosted by the Port of Bremerton. The meeting was marked by friction between Port Orchard officials and other stakeholders in the proposed annexation of SKIA into the City of Bremerton, including the port, the city and SKIA property owners. (The story should post shortly on kitsapsun.com.)
Port Orchard was to have submitted a proposal with specifics on its proposed role in providing infrastructure to SKIA, but City Attorney Greg Jacoby said he wouldn’t release the draft document before making some revisions based on information from the meeting.
The anticlimax seemed a let-down for many. After the meeting people clustered in small disgruntled groups.
“This frustrates me,” said Port Commissioner Cheryl Kincer. “I am frustrated with the outcome of this meeting and not being able to review Port Orchard’s proposal. … I feel confident this will work out, but now it seems between Port Orchard and Bremerton.”

“…City Attorney Greg Jacoby said he wouldn’t release the draft document before making some revisions based on information from the meeting….”
More nonsense. Had SK/PO been sincerely interested they would have been glad to share the draft …instead more melodrama… loud noise and drama….and nothing for anyone much less the district they are supposed to serve. The big talking non productive…
PO/SK mayor threatened a lawsuit to be involved—yet who was least involved??? I thought the idea of the meeting was to exchange ideas …and turns out the only draft/idea from PO/SK would be written based on the meeting. Wow – brainstorming – not.

Sounds like more angry bullying from someone who must have an anger-management problem. That is not productive. Makes his motives suspect.
