No Live-Blogging Tonight

March 10th, 2008 by Steven Gardner

Chris Dunagan will be at the county commissioner meeting tonight working on a couple stories and will not be live-blogging it.

    Steve,

I think that live coverage of the commissioners meetings is a very important goal. Back in early December I asked the commissioners about the possibility of that occurring (see email string below)and Steve Bauer assured me they’d get on it “ASAP”. Last night at the meeting I asked Com Bauer if he was being sarcastic or sincere when he used the term “ASAP” and furthermore asked him if anything had been done since then towards bringing the meetings to the public live. He assured me that he was sincere but left me disappointed by simply stating that the building where the meetings are held was not designed for live broadcasts… As if that was an acceptable excuse.

When the current Poulsbo City Hall was built in the 1940′s as a Fire Station, I doubt it was designed at that time to broadcast live from… Yet today the Poulsbo City Council meetings are indeed broadcast live from there.

Given Com Bauer’s apparent definition of “ASAP” you, and the KitsapSun website, may just beat the county to a live broadcast of sorts. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the heads up. I’m sure we will get on this ASAP as the delayed broadcast is not great.

Any chance this is on your radar commissioners? Any timeline for it?

    Thanks,

    Hi Luis,

We have time allotted to the county for a live telecast. As I understand it, the County Commissioners have to give their approval and work out the details of transmission with Wave Cable. In the meantime we are playing back taped meetings in their “live” time-slot. Thanks for the question!

    Jon,

Are there any plans to telecast the county commissioners meetings live
    in the near future?
