Another Kitsap Bumbershooter

8308_604775439551578_1993177529_nI saw him; I just didn’t know him.

A reader pointed out a Kitsap product I missed while I was running down locals who would be performing at last weekend’s Bumbershoot music and art fair at Seattle Center.

I saw some of Shaprece‘s set at Fisher Green Sept. 4. But I didn’t know at the time that one of the guys in her band is Branden Clarke. Clarke is a Kingston native and graduated from North Kitsap High School. The DJ/producer also records and performs as his own entity, IG88.

So, better late than never …

Gregg Rolie brings Hall of Fame credentials to Kingston

They get some cool shows up at The Point Casino in Kingston. But not many of them have as much appeal as the July 17 set by the Gregg Rolie Band (7 p.m. doors, 8 p.m. show).

Rolie is a founding member of not one, but two heavy-duty classic-rock bands, Santana and Journ0710_KSFE_GreggRolieey. He played keyboards and was the original lead vocalist with Santana, then split off with guitarist Neil Schon to form Journey. He is, as you might assume, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

And here’s something you might not have known about Rolie. Though he was part of the San Francisco scene that spawned both Santana and Journey, he was born in Seattle, in 1947.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 on the day of the show. The casino is at 7989 Salish Lane west of Kingston.
