I am heterosexual, and therefor find male homosexuality an unapealing concept and prefer not to dwell upon it.

That does not stop me from engaging in commerce or friendship with anyone. I believe the Government should discontinue punishing and rewarding people based on marital status and let the concept of marriage return to its proper place, the centers where believers gather and make such rituals of promise. As for Contracts, the Government should enforce written contracts, and anyone interested in sharing their lives and finances should have such contracts.

My concern is the right of our State to make decisions the Population desires. I was against medical marijuane in Washington. Since then Life has slapped me awake, by dealing me a wife with cancer, and two wounded sons, who medical marijuana has saved from the tortures of "approvred" pharmacueticals. After Washington State approved medical marijuana I accepted it as the rightful expression of the will of the population of Washington, regardless of my personal feelings.

Then the federal Government came in with goons dressed in battle garb and raided perfectly legal dispensaries, essentially nullifying the votes of millions of Washingtonians with the stroke of a Washington DC bureuacrat's pen.

The President has done nothing to support State's Rights, and three out of four Republican Candidates are completely hostile to State's rights on the issue of same-sex marriage.

While I might or might not have voted the same way as my neighbor, that takes a back seart to the indignation errupting in my bossum when the Federal Government comes in to our State and nullifies our votes.

There is only one candidate, in either party who has no desire to interfere with our votes.

One Ron Paul supporter in a caucus State is equal to a thousand in a Primary State.

The Washington State Ron Paul Campaign is actively searching for you. Let them know you are there. The Caucus is different than a primary, you don't just show up, vote, then go home. The Campaign, made up of ordinary people like you, are trying to locate the Ron Paul supporters.

Facebook: Washington State for Ron Paul, and: Kitsap County for Ron Paul
People in Poulsbo, Wa can reach me at poulsbo2012 at yahoo dot com.

Make yourself known to the Campaign and we win.

If our votes are to matter, we have to keep the battle garbed federal governmaent from nullifying our votes, at the behest of a bureaucrat. So we can vote for an executive which will stop that bureacrat from putting pen to paper.

If you want to marry someone I do not approve of, go ahead, and I wish you the best of all things. If you marry someone the federal government disapproves of, I hope you can escape the oppressions to come.

Maricie - They are people, good people who happen to be lesbians. They had the opportunity, courage and cared enough to risk their lives to help. It certainly had nothing to do with their sexual orientation - as I see it.

Well Mick ... I go back further and now have great-grandchild in our public school system.

I remember back when 'gay' meant happy, joyous - now it is only a word meaning homosexual.

Kids were bullied when I was in school - nothing new there...only today people use excuses due to heaven knows what...it seems no one seems to accept personal responsibility for anything. Whatever they do wrong or harmful, they have an excuse therefore making the act okay.

How about stomping down on the bully- no matter what s/he gives as an excuse to bully - kick them out of school. Throw their behavior back to the parents to deal with. School SHOULD be for teaching. Stop the culture excuses - bullies for any reason, of any ethnic background - should be kicked out of school for the entire rest of the school year.

Lets add some action and backbone to the incessant chat about multicultural that changes nothing.
In my opinion... Sharon O'Hara

Thanks Marcie,

I am somewhat of a liberal minded person in regrdrs to immigration . Like most people , immigrints and all people who appear different even get more shame and blame during economic bad times .

But I was speaking to perhaps the more over all philospy that people seem to take , even in solving problems that our youth today face.
I am a Grand Pa now , and perhaps out of the loop in many ways . But our kids seem to be separated by groups instead of learning basic porblem solving and critical thinking skills in how they behave with others and learn to make good choices.. I will take bullying for instance . Even with the enoromus amout of acceptance and rights gays have finally received in the public square, they are still percentage wise receiving the most abuse , suffering higher suicide rates then ever before I believe . I guess those stats are hard to prove. . When i was a kid , 60;s 70;s , gays were invisible . never really knew too much , but a gay slur was given to people all the time by the smart alecks if they were picking or making funn of a person regardless of reasoning for the picking on. Bullying is not new , but I believe the amount of it is . The intimidation is greater , as is the peer pressure .

But look how we handle that increased nastiness in our culture , we take gay speakers to address bullying, or Hispanic , or whatever . ? I think that is hurting gays . I think it hurts all of us when we signal out groups and handle it as a group problem . Its not a group problem , its a human problem . It just so happens in some cases , gays get hurt , but the over all reason of the bullying is much deeper . Gays pick on other gays for the same basic reason say a bully picks on a gay and used slur words that are offensive .or even hitting the person , intimidating . Most of us know what its like to be bullied .

I think multi cultural techiques are good when you promote the good things about each cultural back grounds , but harmful when you pick out the differences in a way that you wish other people to change their behavior or their cultural heritage and beliefs .

CNN recently had a speaker who stated Christianity hurt gays . When I was on the human rights council years ago, I was overwhelemed with the materials that would use multi culturalism in a negative group manner . Promise Keeprs were linked with Skin Heads, Methodist Church for crying on loud was put on the hate watch group because they would not allow Gays to be Ministers . good grief . If you lived in Kitsap I would have a hunch you would have a very negative understanding of myself. I see religious organizations ask for donations all the time for stopping the gay agenda . As if multi culturalism has only effected the more secular elements of our culture , I believe the more traditional and religious sections of our culture have also been poisned with it . Sorry about the harsh expression here. I see people who are so inbred in a liberal multi cultural view point that i was assumed to be Phelps and Pat Robertson in the flesh . I kid you not . Plus my defending religious beliefs or groups staing they deserved " equal" respect in a very secular multi cultural setting was quite lonely . Humiliating actually considering I really was just a PTA volunteer, new republican ,in a very strange envirnoment . I saw people just out and out tell lys , t because they were on the right side of the issue , in this case the "left side " they were still embraced and seen as leaders . Instead of judging people by their character , their honesty , their concern for their fellow man , people in the multi cultural society we have today appear to judge people by their group identiy . No wonder our kids are seeing more aggression , their values are being replaced by something that is harmful.

But in any case , stay in touch -please . I have been appointed to serve on the NK Equity committee. From what i believe , the school districts are all under the gun to come up with policies to stop bullying . And most likely i will be somewhat out of place , but in the minority as usual . ;0 I am not sure even if I am getting my thoughts accross to you , but to stop bullying and mistreatment of others we need to teach kids they are indeed all important . No one person , or one group has more value or more rights then another . Common repsect. This includes for beliefs , race, culture , sexual orienation , etc. My contribution will be to try to have a unified approcach to handle bullying , a set way of hyandling it that promotes the integrity and respects the values of all people .

That should not be hard , but it always seems to be when different groups try to get their group put another group for whatever reason .

Thanks , and tou motivated my letter to the editor . I like your blog so far ..

i know kids and parents that had the belief they had to keep silent when their kids were being bullioed on the school bus because the bullies happened to be Native American . The kids were actually saying things like you took our land , as an excuse. Now that could be turned around and say some kids from Christian Homes were bullying some kids because they saw them as acting femine , and they treated them badly because of their sin or what ever . This multi cultural stuff in my opinion has no right or wrong side , we are all human and suffer at times of the dark side in us our the members in any socio group.

But looking at our different cultures and learning is great , even fun in my case . i enjoy , I look at it from a Christian perspective in my view , God makes cool people and cool cultures , But we do tend to mess up our gifts sometimes .

"...Recently I have seen the term multiculturalism used almost synonymously with the term immigration and used as something to blame our major woes on...."

As a daughter of immigrants, raised as a Norwegian/American, I've always thought that immigration was America's strength in a world market. I've also come to think that the original immigrants strength, will, ability to overcome adversity and astounding work ethic brought to this country seem to become watered down and weak with each succeeding generation.

America, to the immigrants I knew, was the new land of hope, that here was a country where they could go as far as imagination and hard work could take them.

Education was #1 on their list of must in life for their children and nothing interfered...certainly not a teacher's union geared to provide lifetime jobs for the dull.

I directly charge lazy, indifferent parents who allowed the teacher's union to become the strongest, largest political union in the nation leading to the dumbing down of America.

"...We do need to be respectful and learn to communicate with one another, and that can be a real challenge sometimes with strongly held differing views."

Of course. See what you started? If we don't communicate we learn nothing. You have begun a good thing, Marcie.

America, to the immigrants I knew, was the new land of hope, that here was a country where they could go as far as imagination and hard work could take them.

Education was #1 on their list of must in life for their children and nothing interfered…certainly not a teacher’s union geared to provide lifetime jobs for the dull.

I directly charge lazy, indifferent parents who allowed the teacher’s union to become the strongest, largest political union in the nation leading to the dumbing down of America.

“…We do need to be respectful and learn to communicate with one another, and that can be a real challenge sometimes with strongly held differing views.”

Of course. See what you started? If we don’t communicate we learn nothing. You have begun a good thing, Marcie.
