Happ Birthday America

July 1st, 2010 by Lisa Jachimowicz

I think being American means freedom to live life the way I want to, go where I want to, worship where I want to.

But more importantly, it is freedom to have opinions and freedom to say what I want , and to love who I want.

Happy Birthday America and thank you to the soldiers who sacrifice their lives and comforts for us so we can have all of these wonderful things.

Ground Tile Map at the Visitor Center in Long Beach Washington

I was on vacation in Long Beach Washington and wanted to share  this great tile work at the visitors center. If you go to Long Beach you will be sure to have a great time. It is 4 hours away in a small beach town. The best part was that the sound of the ocean was simply mesmerizing.

Buy local and be free!

May 11th, 2010 by Lisa Jachimowicz

I think this is a great idea to not only help us get healthy but to save money and support the local farmers. I had a nice chat with David Hugh’s this morning of Full Circle Farm and he shared with me his vision and special offers that the Farm has to offer…..

Dave states “Nestled in the beautiful Snoqualmie Valley less than an hour’s drive from the Seattle ferry, Full Circle Farm (www.fullcirclefarm.com) is a family farm growing more than 75 varieties of certified organic fruits and vegetables. Beginning in 1996 with just three acres, the farm now operates on 260 acres, providing organically grown produce to families and individuals in the Puget Sound through an innovative custom delivery program.”

Produce Boxes:

Full Circle’s program is a weekly delivery service that brings boxes of farm fresh organic produce and artesian goods such as meats, breads and cheeses to subscribers year round and features a user-friendly online system for customizing orders, making substitutions and adding items like coffee, eggs and more. Options for every other week delivery, two different box sizes and “vacation holds” make this a great program for today’s lifestyles. Boxes are also very reasonably priced with the standard box being $31 and the family box at $40.

Kitsap County:

Now with over 20 pick-up locations in Kitsap County, this is a great way to connect with a local Puget Sound organic farm, start eating a healthier diet and help the environment! Sign up through the Full Circle Farm website (www.fullcirclefarm.com) and receive $15 off your first order with the promo “Kitsap2010″!

This Weekend Featured Artist: Berkeley Wilkins

April 23rd, 2010 by Lisa Jachimowicz

"City" by Berkeley Wilkins

Between “Lisa Duties” this week I have been brainstorming for two days about how I want to showcase this very special artist.

Why? Because I think his art work is simply phenomenal.

"Vase" By Berkeley Wilkins & Mom's Favorite!

So… I have decided to just showcase Berkeley’s artwork with his pictures. They speak for themselves and they really don’t need me to say how great they are, so let me share them with you.

"Block" by Berkeley Wilkins

"Block" By Berkeley Wilkins

Berkeley’s mediums are drawing, painting; watercolors, oil pastels and charcoal. Can you believe he was 7 years old when he started creating for the public? He is 10 years old now. His work also includes winning a competition to design the title for his schools year book last year. How great is THAT?

"Leaves" By Berkeley Wilkins

"Leaves" By Berkeley Wilkins

What impresses me the most is that Berkeley’s parents (Kimberly and James Wilkins) have lovingly cultivated his creativity. Kimberly Wilkins states “We noticed he couldn’t see well when he was 4. After a series of doctor appointments, it was determined that he has a retina disease. He has had 4 surgeries to stop bleeding in his retinas. He also has a cataract now. He started drawing at an early age and clearly had talent for it. We put him in many art classes at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria (VA) with real artists who taught him styles of the masters.”

"Potted Plant" By Berkeley Wilkins

The Wilkins are a strong family and they both have very demanding jobs (and more of Berkeley’s siblings to take care of) but they do find time to walk and support the cause to help save and restore sight to the other 10 million Americans living in darkness.  Kimberly’s team is walking in support of Vision Walk and her team’s motto is “there is a cure in sight”.

"Quail" By Berkeley Wilkins

Besides showcasing Berkeley’s wonderful artwork today, I am positive he would want me to send a special shout out from him to his awesome cousins who live in Seattle. Berkeley’s artwork will be very famous now- sooo if he comes to Seattle soon, let’s make sure he signs his autograph on something ?

Just don’t write on your cousins Berkeley!   K? :)

Berkeley Wilkins

Berkeley Wilkins you are an inspiration to all and thank you for sharing your wonderful artwork with us.  Have a great weekend!

Kimberly Wilkins Team Vision Walk is on May 8th 2010. Donations can be done on the Vision Walk website located here.

Bremerton Bliss

April 20th, 2010 by Lisa Jachimowicz

Chris & Emily + Corgi Rosie Pepper’s Cottage Home in Bremerton!

Yes, those two word go together in the unique new design of this old home in Bremerton, Washington located in lovely Kitsap County.

This just solidifies my theory that the house doesn’t matter, it REALLY  IS  about the water and the view! With home loan options dwindling, this might be a great idea.

Look what they did! I give this a big thumbs up for imagination, design and of course the view! Read more and vote !

PS) This is a house that just screams they should have cute chicks and chickens! Just my 02 cents!
