Washington State Ferries released its ridership numbers for August and September.
For
August:
- Total riders: 2,519,366 (up 0.1 percent from 2008)
- Vehicles: 1,022,459 (up 1.8 percent from 2008)

Passengers: 1,496,907 (down 1.1
percent from 2008)
For
September:
- Total riders: 1,975,738 (down 0.7 percent from 2008)
- Vehicles: 873,152 (down 1.0 percent from 2008)

Passengers: 1,102,586 (down 0.5
percent from 2008)
For fiscal year
2009 to date (July 1 through Sept.
30):
- Total riders: 7,006,656 (up 0.6 percent from 2008)
- Vehicles: 2,904,724 (up 1.1 percent from 2008)
- Passengers: 4,101,932 (up 0.2 percent from 2008)
There were service disruptions in September that affected the Bremerton, Kingston and Bainbridge routes.
