You may have seen us recommend this type of wine in our wine pairing column in Sunday’s Life section of the paper. We also wrote it up here, on the blog.

‘Tis the season for “glow wine,” or Glühwein which is the German name given to mulled wine.

Mulled wine was a  popular Christmas beverage in Victorian England. Made with wine, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and perhaps allspice, this mulled wine is the perfect warm, alcoholic beverage to warm you from the inside out on a frosty December evening.

Any wine can be used, but port or red are the favorites.
