Volunteers sought for work in Bainbridge vineyard

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at working in a vineyard? Well now’s your chance to cross that experience off your bucket list.

The EduCulture Project is looking for people to help out at the oldest winery on Bainbridge Island — Bainbridge Island Vineyards and Winery. A work party is planned for Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the winery.

And for your hard work of pulling leaves and weeds in the vineyard you’ll be paid with a glass of locally grown wine from the winery. Here’s the details from the email I was sent by the EduCulture Project:

Spend a summer afternoon working in the vines, and enjoying a glass of locally grown wine at Bainbridge Island Vineyards.

This Tuesday, August 23, from 3-6pm, there will be a volunteer work party to help pull leaves and weeds in the vineyard. Betsey Wittick and her interns will be on hand to instruct and support our efforts. All you need to do is show up and be willing to get dirty.

At the tail end of the work party, we will enjoy a true taste of Bainbridge and serve wine from the vineyards!

Suggested items to bring included work clothes, hat, gloves, knee pad (optional), and water bottle. If you plan to join the work party, please RSVP to Betsey Wittick laughingcrow@bainbridge.net or 842-3516.

Bainbridge Island Vineyards is located at 8989 Day Road East, Bainbridge Island.
