Behind the scenes at Bremerton police

When: 1 p.m. Nov. 19

Where: Bremerton Police Department, 1025 Burwell Street, Bremerton

Getting there:The department is located near downtown Bremerton on Burwell Street, near its intersection with Chester Avenue. Parking is limited; look for street parking in the area. Come to the department’s front entrance by 1 p.m.

Description: The doors of the Bremerton Police Department’s headquarters, opened less than 10 years ago, will swing open for a visit from the Kitsap Sun’s Story Walkers. Join Reporter Josh Farley and Bremerton officers, including Chief Steve Strachan, on a tour of the department’s evidence room, training facility, armory and more, and learn how police provide 24-hour emergency response and investigation in the city.

Cost: Free!

Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk up to a mile. This walk is accessible to all age levels and abilities; the department has an elevator.
