Manette’s new Christmas tree planted in honor of Jennifer Balliet

Manette’s Christmas tree is back. Following the former tree’s demise to make way for the new Manette Bridge, a new Grand Fir has been planted in the Whitey Domstad Viewscape, courtesy of the Manette Neighborhood Coalition.

Grown at Huberts Tree Farm in Seabeck, the towering tree will be named for Jennifer Balliet, a Manette community leader who helped found the neighborhood coalition. Sadly, Balliet died of Lou Gehrig’s Disease in 2011.

A dedication of the tree is slated for the spring.
