A New Voice Here

Some of you have seen the picture on the main blog page and figured out the cryptic message I left before. Andrew Binion is taking over the Bremerton beat, which means he’s also taking over the Bremerton Beat.

Binion has done some impressive reporting since starting here about a year ago. He brings to the beat experience covering legislatures in Washington and Illinois and local coverage here and with other local papers.

This blog has been a blast for me. This was one of the original Kitsap Sun blogs and has been a great place to learn this story form in the two years I’ve overseen it. Thanks for all your input and enjoy the new voice here.

  1. No.
Steven…a new blog for him, a new name blog for him, yes.

The Bremerton Beat blog is YOUR voice.

The rest of the story, please?
    Sharon O’Hara

  2. I welcome Mr. Binion’s voice, as long as he provides the same in-depth coverage of sensitive, local lug nut issues that Steven Gardner is internationally famous for.

In parting, Steven, I offer you this haiku:

    You brightened my days
I will miss your smiling face
    The Sun is fading

  3. On point one, I’ll still be writing over at the Kitsap Caucus, probably even more than I did in the past. This blog needs to be Binion’s, because he’s covering the city now. I’ll still interject from time to time.

On the second point, as it turns out Binion wrote the lug nut story you referenced, so I think you’re in for a good time.

  4. I apparently confused the lug nut story with your also-internationally-famous piece on the Crucified Santa. Thank you for giving credit where credit is due.

  5. Hi. I don’t know if this would be the correct place to post this, but I’m looking for some info. My name is Katy Turek and I live in Bremerton, have for most of my life. I met and married my husband 2 years ago, Morgan Turek. At the start of our relationship, we found out that we both attended the O.C. co-op daycare at the same time. When he asked his mom about it, she said, “As a matter of fact, you had a ‘girlfriend’ named Katy. I’ve contacted O.C. requesting info or photos, possibly in archives, as the daycare is no longer active (?), but I never heard back. If anyone out there has any info, it would be greatly appreciated. Any photos from 1980 or 1981? We both made dinner plates – the date on mine is Feb 11, 1981. Please feel free to email me @ katyotatie@yahoo.com Thank you!
